A fun launch title, should be priced as launch title Oct 20, 2007
By Paul Katz This game is pretty fun, and is kind of a workout, as you actually need to swing the Wii-mote for swordfighting and weapon use. It looks decent, although the DragonballZ games on the Wii look a bit better in my opinion. There are also plenty of unlockables.
My biggest gripe is that the AI is pretty lame. On Hard, the episode mode was exceptionally easy. It was a rarity to get beaten by anyone. Footwork and flash steps seem to turn almost any fight in your favor. Online play would solve this; unfortunately its absent in this title. Arcade mode can present more of a challenge, as some of the unlocked characters are not as powerful as the story mode characters (or their swords don't have as much of a reach). Still though, the average fights are pretty easy.
In summary, the pros are: - Fun controls - Decent graphics - A set of characters fans will know and love
The negatives are: - No online play - Lame AI (especially in episode mode) - Environments are not destructable
As a Japanese launch title, its clear Sega didn't have time to nail down everything; honing the controls was clearly their priority. If they can build off of the great controls, tighten up AI, and introduce online play, then a sequel would be well worth $50.00. For this one, I'd say wait till its on sale for $30 - $40. It's a launch title, and by now should be priced as such.

Great for a fan Dec 16, 2007
By Susan Haldeman (I am not actually Susan, I am here son using her acount.)
I bought Mortal Kombat shortly after it came out thinking that it would be a fun game for when my friends came over. I like having lots of character chooses but I quickly grew tired of it. I traded MK with a friend for bleach. I am a fan of the show I think the game is great. The character's moves are true to the show and the game is made better by playing with the wii remote and numcuck. I have enjoyed unlocking the characters while playing alone and my friends and I have had a great time playing the vs mode. It does take a bit of time to load battles but it is not too bad. The single player is not the main feature and if you are looking for a game to play by yourself I would recommend getting Zelda, Prince of Persia, or Metroid prime. I highly recommend this game for fans of the show and manga or if you are just looking for a good fighting game. : )

True to the series, a little lackluster as a fighting game... Oct 16, 2007

Bleach:Shattered Blade is a wonderful homage to the series. The artist and writer worked together with the game makers to create a story line that can be seen as in cannon, and original storylines and 2-D graphics for a few of the characters. The huge array of characters lets you pick one who's fighting style works for you, or maybe just your favorite character. The characters' moves are straight from the show, and even though the game takes place after the Soul Society Arc, a few characters have moves that aren't seen until the Hueco Mundo arc, which is impressive.
However, this game is very short. I was under the impression that there was a story mode for all 30 characters, when there's only story modes for about 7. Everything else you have to unlock through arcade mode.
This game is not as smooth as most modern arcade fighters are. However, with the limited controls for the Wii, that's only to be expected. However, the game does make up for it by incorporating the functions of the Wiimote in nicely.
The graphics are average. There's obviously some kinks, like when hair and accessories drift through people's bodies, and the backgrounds aren't too clean in the cut scenes.
As far as unlockable content goes, there's not much, and you can't really use any of it. It's fun to unlock extra voices to hear characters talk about (or bash) the Wii.
As a fighting game, this game is very average and doesn't really bring a whole lot that's new to the table. But fans of the series will really like it, and it's handy to have around when your friends come over, and Brawl isn't available until next year.

My review for "Bleach: Shattered Blade" Oct 10, 2007
By G. Johnson I'm not much into fighting games, infact the only fighting games I own are this, Blade of Fate and Jump! Ultimate Stars. (Though I've played others that I've liked.) However, I was impatiently waiting for this game when I found out about it. For one, I needed another Wii game and secondly I love Bleach. One thought that occured to me though is of course "are they just using Bleach as a way to make easy sales and will it just be a waste of money?" Thankfully, my fears were wrong.
Graphics: 4/5 Nothing real stunning when compared to other games on other systems, however, for the Wii this was beautifully done. Nice anime look, the cut scenes when going into Bankai look fabulous, but once again, only good considering it's a Wii game.
Sound: 4.5/5 The sound affects are fairly good, I've been hearing complaints from people wishing they could hear them talk in Japanese and it just be dubbed, but really I like hearing it in a languag I speak. The music during the battles is done pretty good also, it goes along with the fighting pretty well.
Gameplay: 4/5 Like I said, I'm not really into fighters, but I'll try to compare it to others best I can. For attacks, you swing your Wii-mote, when preforming a special you hold down the b while swinging and to preform a regular but stronger attack you hold down b and swing. This works pretty well, expecally for me, it makes it easier to get right into than just button mashing. However, Bankai can be a little too easy to get into, when you give/take damage it goes up, and also to charge the meter you just shake your nunchuck, and to get into Bankai you shake your Wii-mote (when the meter's full, of course) although, I suppose it's better than being too hard to pull off. It's still quite fun to do anyways.
Over all I'd give Bleach: Shattered Blade a 4.5. If you're a fan of Bleach this is without a doubt a must have. Also if you're into fighters you might like it too, or at the least you should rent it once to try it out.

A Very fun Game! Oct 13, 2007

NOTE: This review assumes that you have an understanding of the common terminology of Bleach.
The game is a direct port of the Japanese game, so they didn't mess with the story of the game or hide any of the characters or powers that haven't been shown here in the anime yet, which is cool. Just remember that this game was a launch title for the Wii in Japan, so there is still a lot of room for improvement in the game play, so your expectations for it shouldn't be too incredibly high. This is a very good game, though, especially for being such an early title.
The storyline of the game is weak, but that's not surprising, fighting games are not known for their storylines usually anyway. You can skip through the storyline cut scenes in story mode, though, and it's nice to be able to get right to the fighting. There is a fair amount of loading, but it works having the little breaks between the fights. The game play is remarkably solid and responsive, although not very complicated. You do need a lot of room to play, either standing up or sitting on the edge of a couch or chair because you have to swing the remote a lot. This game is not about random flailing around with the remote to control the zanpakuto (I haven't tried to play as any of the non-zanpakuto characters yet, so I might have to revise this late
