Excellent game Jul 30, 2008
By C. A Baker This is a very fun game with an extremely well designed 2-player set-up. As opposed to some other games I've played this 2-player does a spilt screen and allows each player free reign, to a point, to run about on their own. It does send you to your partner if they get to certain part of the level before you but it for the most part it lets you each enjoy the game while playing together.
The graphics are quite good and game play is pretty easy and fun. The characters are also pretty cool, it also has a pretty good sense of humor throughout.

DJ and Pandora's Adventure Jun 23, 2009
By BB This game was very enjoyable.
The image and the characters were well designed and very cute. The story was funny and it had different things you could do. You could swipe your scythe (or chain depending on who you are) and shoot things. There is also jumping and swinging included. It wasn't just fighting and blowing things up, it had something for everyone.
A warning: the swinging and jumping can get frustrating. When I was playing with someone else, it was easier because I could do most of it and just have him die or teleport to me (having him die also did that but only in multiplayer mode). And when I had trouble he would do it and I would teleport. So when you start jumping, be calm and collected. The more frustrated you get, the less ability you have to perform well.
Most of the jumping, you can wait for the right moment. The swinging depends on what they are. Some of them swing you automatically and some you hover. There are key points to them, but I'm sure you'll find them out.
Overall, the game was really fun and it's good for family or friends. Just relax and don't get frustrated.
PS. There is a book and other games of this series.

Fun with Cooperative and Single Play Jul 04, 2009
By gamingfanatic You can doubt a lot of the Wii games out there, which means it's not that easy to find a lot of great titles. I've played the previous Death Jr title for the PSP, and it was great...except for the fact that it was way too hard for me. I couldn't even rescue the next person, the demons kept attacking like crazy. I've found this title to be much more of an improvement. If you liked the prequel to Roots of Evil, I would recommend playing single player. For those who need an introduction to Death Jr or thought the PSP title was too challenging or just want to play with a friend, I would recommend playing cooperative. It's much less of a challenge with a friend because, when you die, if the second player is still alive, you'll get revived and appear next to the second player. Sometimes the environments are very twisted, but that makes it funner. Would you prefer an average shopping mall over one with killer models? For fun, I would pick number two. In single player, you choose to be either Pandora or DJ (short for Death Jr) but it is much harder because, if you die, you would have to start from your last checkpoint. It's not that hard to die. After reading/watching some reviews, I sort of doubted how fun the game would be, but I don't regret buying it at all.

Very Fun Game Dec 01, 2009
By Smokey DeBear

Death Jr: Root of Evil is fun from beginning to end. This game takes you on a journey as the grim reaper's adolescent son as he attempts to save the world with help from a group of his friends (who just happen to be evil, misfit, accidental geniouses - what do you expect from the son of the grim reaper?!). It has great characters (aside from one, who is a bit over the top - just my opinion), and a story that reels you in by being very funny. There are many forms of humor in this game; one liners, stories, level and character art, weapons (a flaming toilet paper launcher just to name one), menus, etc... The entire game premise is humorous, and keeps you very entertained throughout. There are some themes that may be a bit much for the younger ones, but not too bad...mostly crude humor with an occasional four letter word thrown in.
The actual gameplay is also pretty great, especially the split screen co-op. Each player has the freedom (to an extent) to do whatever they want. It actually makes the jumping puzzles more fun because there is someone else to help you through them. A small competition may also evolve, as both of you try to level up your moves the quickest, which can add another dimesion to level exploration.
It takes a bit to get used to looking around with the wii remote, but after a short while it becomes quite easy and useful. A nunchuck controller is needed to play this game, and for good reason. The extra buttons and joystick really come in handy. The jumping puzzles can sometimes be a little difficult, but after a while you get the hang of them. Combat is fun and special moves are easy to pull off if you remember that they exist. Aiming and most special moves are activated by the wii remotes unique movement functions. I have the most fun in melee range combat, but occasionally find myself wanting to stay back and use guns just for fun, as they add an entirely different feel to the game. Some enemies require different strategies, so you may be forced into ranged or melee from time to time.
The game is long, without being too long, and has good replay value (I've played through twice, and plan to do so again). My only real complaint with the game is that the final boss is a little disappointing. I would imagine after seeing what the boss was able to do throughout the game, that the final fight would have been more difficult. Other than that, this game is practically flawless, and a must for Wii owners. If nothing else, you'll at least have a good laugh!

Not a bad little game Jan 01, 2009

You could do way worse than this for a Wii title. It is very linear, which can be good or bad depending on what mood you're in. It struck me as a linear cross between Spyro and Psychonauts with some of its trippy level design. I didn't play the multi-player, but still found it to be a decent little title.
