Excellent but Short Nov 02, 2010
By Azurehill I enjoyed the first game very much. It did have its errors here and there but was a blast to play with a great story.
This sequel is excellent but very short. At first I didn't like it nearly as much as I liked the first game but after playing a few levels I started to really enjoy the overall new format/layout. The lightsaber fighting was a bit more fun than the first even though the absence of being able to find and use lightsaber hilts was slightly disappointing (perhaps in the next installment they will let you build your own hilt). Controlling the camera views was much easier and the force powers were simpler to activate/control.
The graphics were much better and the level construction was sharper. My only complaint is that the game is too short. I thought I was about halfway done with it and then it ended (perhaps this feeling was stronger because the first game was decently long!). If you like the first game and are willing to be a bit open I think you will enjoy this one. Keep in mind I played this game on the Wii.
I have yet to explore multiplayer. Can't wait!

Disappointing Nov 04, 2010
By Jav While a decent game in itself, The Force Unleashed II suffer greatly from comparisons to the original Wii version. Really, the only aspect of the game that compares favorably is the graphics which are a leap forward from the original.
The controls and resulting gameplay are probably the area where the game suffers the most in comparison to it predecessor as most of the motion controls from the first have been removed. Likewise the starkiller's range of force powers has also been stripped down. This is where I personally find the game the most disappointing the motion controls from the original made for a game that seemed to capture (for me) what a star wars game should be. In the sequel we have gone from running all over to galaxy wielding a wii remote as a lightsaber to to running around pressing the A button. For me in terms of fun and immersion this was a huge let down. On the positive side, the changes did bring the lightsaber back into play as after a gaining force powers such as pummel in the first game I rarely used the lightsaber outside of boss fights. Here the lightsaber remains in play as your primary attack throughout the game. The reduction in the number of force powers and the awkwardness of the controls for powers like force push and lightning also forces you more relying on your trusty lightsabers. On the whole these changes result in a game that is quite fun to play, yet one that still feels like something of a let down from the first Force Unleashed.
As for the story, well there isn't much of one. **slight spoilers** You escape from Darth Vader, run off to find your friends, find they are in trouble, and go rescue them, that's it, save for a pointless side trip to dagobah which only serves to give Yoda some screen time. There is also the question of whether you are a clone of the original starkiller, but that plot point is not really developed. In truth there is nothing wrong with the simple plot had it been developed at all. Had you learned more of what Rahm Kota and Juno Eclipse had been up too in your absence that could have been interesting, as could some development of the "Am I a Clone" plot point. But we don't really get any of that and the resulting game is very short. Leaving you with the feeling that it is only there to set up another sequel. After the complete story of the original, ending on a sort of cliffhanger was extremely disappointing.
These last points is where The Force Unleashed II really falters for me. I was able to move passed the simplified controls and enjoy the gameplay offered, only to find that there wasn't much in the way of a game. I had been excited to see a sequel to one of The Force Unleashed, a game I very much enjoyed despite its own flaws, but this game doesn't really offer enough to be worth the purchase price.

Too short Oct 30, 2010
By Michael E Krausse The game is fun to play and the graphics are great. The story was good, but not as good as the first one. The game play was fun and not extremely difficult. The credits roll way to soon in this game, it felt like the plot was really rolling along then all of a sudden its over, if you are expecting it to be as well done as the first game you'll be dissapointed.

Was this a demo? Oct 31, 2010
By tchristman42 At the point the credits rolled I figured I was 1/4 to 1/3 of the way through the game at most. Way too short; where's the rest of the game I paid for? The graphics are good, as was the game play, but they took out a lot of the force combos and you can't control the lightsaber with the wii remote- you just hit the 'a' button to strike and shake randomly to do combos. Fun, but dumbed down and over too quickly.

Weak Sequel to a Decent Game Nov 23, 2010
By C. Monk
"CM"
I liked the first Star Wars Force Unleashed despite the repetitive nature of the bosses and sub-bosses (how many times did you have to disable the AT-ST's in the same way? ugh!). There were also some gameplay issues that were annoying as well.
Most of that was fixed in the sequel but unfortunately, they forgot to include a story! What made the first game good was the story. It was interesting and you cared about the characters.
SPOILERS There is very little story in the sequel; basically the big mystery is whether or not your character is a clone or the real Starkiller which is interwoven with his attempt to find Juno.
What also is missing is the ship. In the first game you got to spend time on the ship; you could look at the artwork and put on a different set of clothes, talk to others, etc. That isn't present in the sequel. Neither are the different lightsaber hilts that you could collect in the first game. Yeah, the hilts didn't affect the game at all but that was still fun.
You'll also spend a lot of time running around the same few locations, spending a good deal of time on the Republic cruiser.
It's not all bad: gameplay feels smoother though some of the moves are a little cumbersome and you'll probably spend your time just hacking and slashing with your lightsaber blades until you get to Darth Vader.
Overall, the game is lacking. The story isn't there, which is a major failing. The other nice things aren't there either and I guess we have to wait 3-4 years to resolve the story...assuming they make a 3rd game...
